Planning your Nassau trip? Do not forget transportation

A practical sequence for arranging airport, hotel, cruise port and island movements before the vacation begins.

  • By Samuel McDonald
  • Updated for the clean static rebuild

Nassau travel planning usually starts with flights, a hotel and the activities everyone wants to enjoy. Ground transportation connects all three. Leaving it until arrival can create uncertainty about capacity, luggage, pickup points and return timing.

Begin with every fixed arrival

List the flight number or ship name, scheduled arrival, the lead traveler’s mobile number and the exact accommodation. If a trip includes both a cruise and a hotel, treat each transfer as a separate movement.

Count people and bags honestly

A vehicle that fits the travelers may not fit their suitcases, stroller, wheelchair, golf bag or dive equipment. Send a complete count before asking for a vehicle recommendation.

Protect the departure

Plan hotel-to-airport pickup around the recommended check-in time and likely traffic. For cruise days, build the sightseeing route backward from the return-on-board deadline rather than from the moment the group wants to leave.

Separate transportation from activities

If a day includes a boat, beach, water park, animal experience or rental, identify who operates that activity. Confirm admission, waivers, weather policy and cancellations separately from the vehicle service.

Keep one written itinerary

Your final record should state every pickup, destination, passenger and bag count, vehicle category, price, currency, payment status, cancellation terms and emergency contact. Share it with the whole group.

A compact pre-trip checklist

  • Flight or ship details
  • Hotel name and correct entrance
  • Travel date and local pickup time
  • Adults, children, bags and mobility items
  • Stops, waiting time and hard deadlines
  • Written quote and payment instructions
